Weekly Reflection (Post 3, Week 3)

BC Post Secondary Digital Learning Strategy

Over the last few years online learning has grown rapidly. It was first introduced and began to take over widely when the COVID-19 pandemic quickly struck and regular in person learning could no longer continue. After a few weeks of isolation it was clear a quick shift was needed to allow for students to resume with their education. Online learning has now become a tool of the future and we are continuing to see schools keep their online learning practices in place while building even more online opportunities. To continue to strengthen and build the online learning community, proper guidelines and tools will need to be put into place. We have begun to see this with the Digital Learning Strategy British Columbia has incorporated into online schooling programs.

The Digital Learning Strategy was introduced in hopes to give every student equal support and opportunity in online learning. To create a fair and equal learning environment it is important that educators find a system that works for every individual student. The Digital Learning Strategy helps support this hope as it allows for flexibility, greater opportunities, additional support, etc in online education. It will help ensure online education is fair and beneficial for every student.

Attached below is a Youtube video by professor Randal Picker at The University of Chicago he explains how online learning has expanded in the last few years as well as its promising future.
